Topics within this qualification are regarded by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) as being important in maintaining good practice in the safe, prompt and effective treatment of injuries and ill health in the workplace
• Understand the roles and responsibilities of a first aider
• Assess and incident and manage unresponsive casualties that are breathing
• Assess and manage and unresponsive casualty who is not breathing
• Recognise and assist a choking casualty
• Manage a casualty with external bleeding, shock and minor injury
How will I be assessed?
You will complete some short written knowledge questions during the session and a range of tutor assessed practical’s including:
• Assessing a casualty
• Demonstrating CPR on a manikin (including the use of an AED)
• Applying slings/dressings
• Placing a casualty in to the recovery position
